MINING OPERATORS & SUPERVISORS

Navigator is seeking expressions of interest from experienced personnel in the following roles:

  • Mining Supervisors
  • Trainers and Assessors
  • Excavator Operators
  • All-Rounder Operators (grader, dozer, watercart)
  • Dump Truck Drivers

The mining fleet consists of four excavators (EX1900, Liebherr 994, EX1200, PC1250) and CAT 785 and Komatsu 785 dump trucks as well as CAT ancillary equipment.  Applicants will ideally have experience on the same, or similar, equipment in a hard rock, open pit mining environment.

We are seeking independent thinking employees with a personal commitment to teamwork, safety and performance who are keen to contribute to the success of the operation.  Successful applicants must pass full medical, drug screen, police clearance and site entry requirements.
 
Employees will work a FIFO roster from Perth or a DIDO roster from other towns in the Goldfields.  The roster is 7 days, 7 nights, 7 R&R as a member of one of three mining operation shifts.  All personnel are accommodated within their own room and village facilities include large swimming pool, gymnasium, squash/tennis/basketball courts, wet mess and theatre room.

SENIOR MINING ENGINEER

Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Senior Mining Engineer’s role is to assist in achieving annual budgets in a safe and cost effective manner by providing technical input and daily monitoring, scheduling and planning of open pit mining operations.

Specific duties will include:

  • Prepare mine designs and schedules to support the achievement of medium and long term plans.
  • Assist in preparation of budget production and development schedules for the open pit operations and update these as required.
  • Carry out long term scheduling (>1 year) and provide conceptual designs to support such strategies.
  • Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of the Surpac and Vulcan mine design systems and associated system administration.
  • Demonstrate an ability to apply a variety of mine design techniques and use economic evaluation to differentiate between different mining options.
  • Undertake daily monitoring and scheduling of mining operations.
  • Prepare drill and blast designs.
  • Ensure maintenance of a safe working environment and demonstrate a personal commitment to safety by the use of agreed programs.

Candidates are to have a tertiary qualification in mining engineering with between 5 to 10 years experience in open pit mining operations and a First Class Mine Managers or Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency.  Experience in open pit mine planning and design in Surpac or similar and demonstrated leadership skills are essential.
